I just love the way Big Mama's pot is thriving in this extreme heat

That is one healthy vine! I didn't know they could take the heat so well.
I also love the pot!

I didn't know they could cope with the heat this well either, although, it kind of makes sense when I think about it. Even in south GA I had to pull the plant out of the ground in the winter, or it would die. Still, to have grown that well in what has been a month of triple digit temps, in a heat sink (the pot is clay) and raised out of the ground, so it needs more water... I am VERY IMPRESSED.

That pot has a history that I am not sure you were around to know about. I bought it at a little ritzy garden center in Statesboro GA. I was looking for a fish pond. They had a load of pots, that were half price, and I liked the look of that one, but I wanted to KNOW that it would hold water. I requested that they fill it before I purchased it, even at the 50% off price of $75 dollars. They started filing it and halfway full it sprung leaks everywhere. It was sitting on a big missing chunk on the bottom, but also had cracks all through it. It turned out that they put them on sale because THEY thought they were purchasing Mexican clay pots (that are fired and very sturdy) and what they got was not fired, and delicate.

When the staff saw the leaks they fetched the manager immediately. I explained why I wanted the pot and he looked at the soaked ground and said "just give me 25 bucks and I will load it in your car" and I did. *grin* It sat in my rose garden on its side for years in GA..

I have a vague memory of reading that story at some point but thanks for retelling it for me.
